5th Meridian Sams
In the spring of 2004, a number of residents in and around Stony Plain were interested in exploring the possibilities of forming a Good Sam Chapter in Stony Plain.
Posters were set out advertising a meeting date for this purpose. Another couple of meetings, one which was attended by the Northern Provincial Assistant Director Les Barnhouse, the decision to form a chapter was agreed upon. The executive was formed by people volunteering for the positions. The following months were busy choosing a name for the chapter, creating a crest, getting vests and a flag made up. Constitution and by-laws were constructed from the Good Sam International guidelines.
Approval for our chapter was received from Good Sam International on Feb. 9th, 2005. At the April chapter meeting Provincial Director John and Esther Crabtree were on hand to present the 5th Meridian Sams with their official charter.
The first President of our Chapter was Bruce Hyde, followed by Gordon Baron. In November 2013, Pat Bremec volunteered for the position of President. We spend our summers going to campouts, samborees, mini samborees and invitational campouts. Members keep in touch over the winter months by meeting for luncheons or going for coffee.
We have been a smaller chapter with 10 rigs, (20 people) but have grown in 2013 to 14 rigs. Chapter meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the month (September - April, excluding December). If you are interested in joining our chapter contact President Patricia (Pat) Bremec at 780-963-6976.
